We all have heard about the importance of oral health and how can affect our overall wellbeing, that’s why it so important to have healthy gums and teeth. Bacteria are naturally found in our mouth and while most of them are harmless some of them are not, but those can be keep under control with a good oral hygiene to prevent cavities, infections or gum disease.

Prophylaxis also known as basic cleaning it the removal of plaque, calculus and stain build up over a period of time and it’s also use to prevent gingivitis. This type of cleaning it’s usually done every 6 months depending on each patient.

Full Mouth Debridement it’s a more complex and is needed when there is a lot of plaque and tartar. It usually takes longer than a regular cleaning. This cleaning is used for patients who have poor dental hygiene or haven’t been to the dentist for a long time.

 Scaling and root planning also known as deep cleaning is the process of eliminating of plaque and calculus that have caused gum inflammation and some bone loss that without proper maintenance can cause periodontal disease. This cleaning is done by quadrants and it usually done in 2 visits.
